This time she is performing in a very special formation: as a duo with Shelley King. King, singer-songwriter, guitarist and already honored as “State Musician of Texas”, is a permanent fixture in the Texas roots and Americana scene. With her warm, soul-soaked voice and her sensitive rhythm guitar playing, she is the ideal musical partner for Wonderland.

What awaits the audience is a firework display of haunting blues, groovy rock and inspired songwriting, peppered with a good dose of soul, gospel and country. Carolyn Wonderland doesn’t have to shy away from comparisons with greats such as Janis Joplin or Bonnie Raitt, nor from imaginary juxtapositions with Stevie Ray Vaughan or Johnny Winter.

In a thrilling live act, the Texan duo impresses with virtuosity on a wide variety of instruments, grandiose guitar solos, haunting rhythms, sensational vocal acrobatics and songs that get under your skin – carried by an irrepressible joy of playing and honest enthusiasm.

In the opening act, local heroes Christian Masser & Gerhard Steinrück will get the audience in the mood for the rest of the evening with their dense, earthy Mississipp blues in the vein of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Big Joe Williams: Songs about hard work, passion, violence and love. And there will also be plenty of good old country music (Hank Williams, Johnny Cash).
