Heinz Marecek: "Mein Kollege, der Affe"
Information
TV and audience favorite Heinz Marecek (he celebrates his 80th birthday in September 2025) reviews anecdotes from a great cabaret era. At the center: Fritz Grünbaum and Karl Farkas. They achieved the feat of bringing the “Doppelconférence” from Budapest to Vienna and celebrating triumphs with it, whereby the principle always remains the same: The “clever one” tries to explain the world to the “stupid one”, whereby it turns out that the “stupid one” really is stupid, but the “clever one” is by no means clever. Of course, the two were also active as soloists. In their performances or with poems they wrote themselves. “My colleague, the monkey” is a poem by Grünbaum – and probably the only one that was also recited by his partner of many years. When Farkas returned from emigration in 1946, he recited his poem “My colleague, the monkey” at his first performance at the Apollo Theater in memory of his friend and partner who had died in Dachau concentration camp. Of course, the evening will also feature many other humorous poems by the two of them, and some of their colleagues – not monkeys, of course! – will also have their say.
