Marina & The Kats | 10 Jahre-Jubel-Jubiläum

With just a handful of concerts on the calendar and just enough songs for a first album, Marina & The Kats took off. In the last ten years, they have toured the world, played over 500 concerts, released 5 albums and wore out 2 tour buses in the process. But more importantly, they established themselves as pioneers of the modern swing scene.

One of their outstanding ideas, which was originally intended as an emergency solution, is the concept of “shared drums”. The band members share the drums, which has become their trademark and attracts attention on stage. This original approach and their stage presence make you forget that there are only four musicians on stage.

For the tenth anniversary, fans can look forward to a concert with the best HITS & LIEBLINGSSONGS from the last five albums. What exactly will happen on this evening…. we don’t know, but it will be great!

Originally a trio, now a quartet, Marina & The Kats have been one of the most exciting and ground-breaking bands in Austria (if not Europe) for years. Anyone who has ever experienced one of their many rousing shows will confirm it.

Three of the four band members play drums. “Playing drums together doesn’t make life easy,” admits the band, “but it makes for an incredible listening experience.” – and that is precisely the trademark of Marina & The Kats: a completely independent sound that grabs the songs and ensures that nobody leaves the hall without a groove.

Anyone who thought that the Vienna-based band had produced their most original album to date with “Different” (2021) will be proven wrong: standing still is not part of the band’s vocabulary.

“Friendly Fire” is the name of the latest longplayer with which MARINA & THE KATS are shaping contemporary swing music. With their mix of modern indie sounds and classic swing, they have been delighting fans all over the world since the release of their debut album “Small”. The result is an exciting dynamic that appeals to those with a penchant for the nostalgic as well as those in search of new sounds. In short: a captivating mix of old and new that sounds familiar and fresh at the same time.

On “Friendly Fire”, they write songs with depth, produce and arrange and tour throughout Europe, without succumbing to any trends or fads. Lyrically, Marina also addresses unpleasant and personal topics on “Friendly Fire”, such as the pressure to succeed, getting older, constant judgment and fears.
