A night bus journey through Europe. Police officers get on at a border and check the passengers’ passports. Two people are led off the bus, after which the journey continues as if nothing had happened.
“Etwas Kommt Mir Bekannt Vor” revolves around this event. The voices of the other passengers can be heard. Their thoughts, brief conversations and social media posts make up a fragmented account of what has just happened. Some of the passengers are shocked, others cheer the crackdown by the authorities, others are tired, annoyed and just want to finally arrive at their destination. The fact is: Nobody asked what had just happened. …
Allex. Fassberg’s play won the Retzhofer Dramapreis in 2017 and is now returning to Graz, as it has lost none of its topicality. The text describes the politics of European isolation, the effectiveness of privileges and the paralyzing power of collective passivity in a poetic yet analytical and precise way. While the passengers are still busy trying to make sense of what is happening, facts have long since been created for others.
Director Franziska Stuhr is staging Allex with Hannah Albrecht from the Sound Design course at FH JOANNEUM and KUG at her side. Fassberg’s theater text as a multimedia audio play.
