Belly of the Best (AT)

In an open call, we invited people to present projects that are at risk due to the cuts in the cultural budget. Among numerous exciting submissions, we gave priority to the younger generation and invited a group of artists from Graz: The team around Azlea Wriessnig, Alexander Benke and Marie Treuer deals in their current project “Belly of the Best” (AT) with re-establishing and maintaining relationships in a world that has fallen apart at the seams. In an expansive musical theater evening, they search for true togetherness and at the same time ask big questions: What connects and what separates us? How close can we get to each other in a divided world?

After showing a first, small version of the play development in July in the Graz bar “Die Beate”, the young artists will move into the Schauraum with their project for the opening of the season. The independent scene meets the Schauspielhaus and together we ask: How can the theater become a place for real encounters?

There will be a bar in the showroom during and after the performance.
