A mixed ensemble of actors from the Theaterakademie LebensGroß and singers from Graz Opera embark on a fight for freedom and justice for all. The specially created adaptation of Ralph Benatzky’s revue operetta offers snappy sounds for grueling battles and exciting emotions.

As the second of the three Berlin operettas created in collaboration with the revue director Erik Charell, Ralph Benatzky created the degenblitzende “Spiel aus romantischer Zeit mit Musik von gestern und heute” in 1929, immediately before the still famous Weißen Rössl .
In order to uncover the treacherous machinations of the deceitful Cardinal Richelieu and to protect the well-being of Queen Anne, her son King Louis and the entire French nation, the three musketeers D’Artagnan, Aramis and Porthos are not afraid of open combat or hot (love) games and face even the most cunning schemers with wit and cunning!
Almost one hundred years after the premiere, the equally fearless ensemble, consisting of opera singers and players from the LebensGroß Theaterakademie, takes on the infamous musketeers. Courage also unites the performers, who work together for the first time in this production and share the experience of having to overcome hurdles: While the singers have to assert themselves in a high-risk profession, the players of the Theaterakademie are challenged to break through boundaries in a world that is not designed for them due to the players’ impairments.
Georg Schütky, director of the Beggar’s Opera , which was successfully performed at Oper Graz in 2023 as part of the inclusive theater festival InTaKT, is working on his own version with the ensemble. Ralph Benatzky’s music will be perfectly adapted for the extravagant ensemble. Get ready for a watertight happening in the studio stage of Graz Opera!
