Some with a lyric sheet, others dressed up.
Who will win?
The audience decides.
But that’s just the info text
for the living and the dead
about language and its messengers
and punchlines as sharp as knives.
Because “dead” is good,
but “live” is better!…
Due to its great success, this slam format is already entering its fourth round and this season once again brings together writers from all eras on one stage: on two evenings at the Next Liberty, professional actors bring the classics of literary history to new life and lend body and voice to the deceased word acrobats and poet princes, while three very lively poets boldly belt out their own poetry. A verbal exchange of blows in a class of its own! Each of them has six minutes to convince the audience: can the passionate slam poets of the present prevail against the permanent guests in German class? Will the texts of the YouTube generation be able to hold their own against the masterpieces of literary eras?
Graz slam greats Christoph Steiner (Austrian Poetry Slam Champion 2016) and Agnes Maier (Styrian/Carinthian national champion and Austrian national champion 2017) will once again host the evening and ensure that the battles of words are fair.
