On a July day in 1518, a woman began to dance through the streets of Strasbourg. She danced for days. Soon the dance fever had taken hold of several hundred people. – What is the power of collective hysteria that allows it to take hold of us? What prompts us to join in this, from a distance, almost absurd process? …
Following her audience-acclaimed production Vom Verschwinden der Körper in the 23/24 season, choreographer Maura Morales returns to Graz and now explores the evocative effect of ecstasy and dance on the main stage with the dancers of Ballett Graz in their powerful, sensual body language – once again to the driving, rhythmic, almost hypnotic sounds of Michio Woirgardt.
Since 2019, choreographers Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich have been leading their company Metamorphosis Dance in Madrid, with which they perform at festivals across Europe. They work together as guest choreographers for the Ballett Basel, the Aterballetto in Italy and the
Royal Ballet Birmingham, among others. This is the first time that an energetic and furious work by the duo will be performed in Austria.
