Fritz von Herzmanovsky-Orlando has put together a grotesque, pre-Austrian panopticon in his “social comedy”. The play also contains elements of absurd theater and delicious sideswipes at the art world. Thekla Wallenstein, for example, known as “Baby”, the status-conscious daughter of the high nobility, or the Polish pseudo-count Judasz Tadeusz Jaroszinsky, who is exposed as a fraud in time….
