More details– ANNA BUCHEGGER –
Classical, jazz, pop – there is hardly a genre in which Anna Buchegger’s multi-faceted voice has not already met with enthusiasm. The 25-year-old from Salzburg not only impressed at the rousing final of Starmania 2021, but also on renowned stages such as the Haus für Mozart. Whether as a soloist or interpreter of modern covers – Anna Buchegger combines musical skill with authentic expression. …
With each new experience, not only their artistic self-image grew, but also their reflection on the music business. The desire for something of their own, something new, became ever stronger – for music that unites alpine roots with contemporary pop, beyond right-wing folklore, bourgeois traditionalism or arbitrary complacency.
With her debut album “Windschatten” (release date: 04.10.2024), Anna Buchegger redefined musical folk culture: she combined the raw power of rural music with the sound aesthetics of modern, urban pop productions – powerful, playful and uncompromisingly independent.
Her new work “Soiz” builds on this – and goes one step further. Inner turmoil has become clarity: The realization that critical thinking and cultural appreciation are possible at the same time. “Soiz” stands for self-confidence, the courage to challenge and the desire to open up new spaces. Anna Buchegger politicizes, plays with dialect and conventions, provokes with a wink – and always remains approachable, courageous and musically curious.
– new album: SOIZ –
Following her highly acclaimed debut album “Windschatten”, which received two Amadeus Award nominations, the Hubert von Goisern Culture Prize 2024 and an ARTE TRACKS portrait, Austrian musician Anna Buchegger has announced her second album: “Soiz” will be released on October 3, 2025 – exactly one year after her debut album.
“Soiz” consistently continues the artistic and political line of “Windschatten” – with even more clarity, resistance and stylistic courage. The musical language is edgier, the tone rougher, the view uncompromising. Buchegger continues to rely on dialect as an artistic statement and confronts Alpine tradition with self-irony and avant-garde daring, both musically and visually. The artistic figure between clown, couture and traditional costume becomes a reflection of a generation that does not preserve its roots, but critically questions them.
In “Soiz”, Buchegger experiments more boldly with her voice and her dialect. She wants to celebrate the edgy, archaic side of her voice and use the dialect more intensively as a means of expression and sound material – for example by deliberately elongating and alienating the vowels. Through this experimental approach, she consciously breaks with stereotypical notions of female voices in music. This is also reflected in her lyrics:
The first single, “Maria” (release date: June 13, 2025), is a pared-down, emotionally charged homage to Maria von Trapp – not as an idyll, but as an untamed female figure with stubbornness and attitude. Soiz” continues this artistic and political line consistently: with even more clarity, resistance and stylistic courage. The sound is edgier, the tone rougher, the look uncompromising.
In “Hex Hex”, she focuses on the Alpine legendary figure of Perchta – a terrifying, mysterious figure who punishes the lazy and rewards the hard-working during the Rauhnächte. “Teppich”, “Schutt” and “Dreck” are her confrontations with the political developments of the past year and a reminder of how quickly a democratized system can topple. wos i nit bin” is about sisterhood, and “Soiz” is about salt mining and the resulting accumulation of wealth in Salzburger Land.
Anna Buchegger remains one of the most exciting voices in German-language pop: she thinks of music not just as a sound, but as an attitude – between stage, tradition and liberation. “Soiz” proves that pop music from rural areas today can be political and international at the same time.
