On June 11 and 21, 2025, the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra will venture into the world of video games for the first time in its history under the direction of Stefan Birnhuber. The program promises a journey through this diverse world, from well-known melodies such as Angry Birds, to blockbuster games such as Prince of Persia, to indie titles such as Forgotten Anne, which may even surprise die-hard gamers. The sound world of this concert ranges from Golden Hollywood to historical-medieval pieces to epic music and shows the musical spectrum of game music. …
Framed by video recordings that provide insights into the aesthetics of the games, as well as background information on the compositions and the video games, the audience can look forward to a varied and rousing concert – whether pro, hardcore gamer or noob.
In a performance adapted for school classes, the concerTeen, young people can experience the concert on June 11, 2025 in the duration of one school lesson.
Now that video game music has already conquered concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie or the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, it will soon be time to press play in Graz too!
