Love, intrigue, and a patent dispute on Lake Wolfgang—things are heating up at the “Weißes Rössl”! When singing head waiters, headstrong landladies, grumpy textile magnates, and the Emperor himself cross paths, the idyll by the lake turns into a sparkling operetta delight. Operetta specialist Marius Burkert, alongside director Dirk Schmeding, skillfully guides audience favorites Ivan Oreščanin, Corina Koller, and Sieglinde Feldhofer through the catchy score.

It’s peak season at the “Weißes Rössl”: The resolute innkeeper Josepha Vogelhuber welcomes a colorful crowd of guests, and soon a whirlwind of romance—complete with plenty of complications—unfolds amid the Alpine peaks and the steam bath. Head waiter Leopold is smitten with his boss, who in turn has her eye on lawyer Dr. Siedler—who, however, is flirting with Ottilie, the daughter of his Berlin adversary Giesecke. Amid legal battles and heart-pounding romance, the charming Sigismund ultimately stirs up even more confusion—and when the Emperor arrives, chaos reigns supreme.
Four composers—including Ralph Benatzky and Robert Stolz—made The White Horse Inn a timeless classic in 1930 with unforgettable melodies that blend waltzes, tangos, foxtrots, and Alpine tunes. Following his successful production of *Venus in Seide* during the 2023/24 season, director Dirk Schmeding now takes a look behind the scenes of a hotel operation with affectionate irony, where kitsch and calculation become a thriving business model.
