Information

The forefathers of Dixieland can’t be topped!
It’s been 50 years since clarinettist Johannes Hödl founded Austria’s most original Dixieland band in Fürstenfeld on the “Stoariegl-
Berg” in 1976. He is currently touring with
the (surviving) original and founding fathers of the “Old Stoariegler Dixielandband” through
Austria and is once again filling concert halls and inns. With a total of 441 years at
Buckl, they have just as much fun today as the “Very Old Stoariegler Dixielandband”,
as they did back then as pupils and students. The founding fathers Sigi Flamisch (banjo,
guitar and vocals), Arthur Fandl (trombone and vocals), Peter Lorenz (piano),
Johannes Hödl (clarinet) have plenty of stories to tell alongside comical arrangements and old Dixieland
catchy tunes by Luis Armstrong, Chris Barber, Sidney Bechet and Louis Prima
. From the collaboration with Fatty George and
trumpeter Oscar Klein to the day when the band almost played as the opening act for
Rod Stewart. In addition to the “founding fathers”, Mátyás Papp plays trumpet
, Gerhard Steinrück plays double bass and Aaron Ofner plays drums.
The end of the success story is not in sight: “The Rolling Stones will be 64* years old this year
. We want to top them by at least a year – because we are unstoppable
”, say the musicians in unison.
