Four women, four knee problems – and a radical step towards self-determination. Their knee leads Ms. Barbara, Ms. Bea, Ms. Rosi and Ms. Gudrun to a rehabilitation clinic. The shared ordeal creates a bond, but also questions their solidarity with each other. After all, the knee is not only the largest human joint, it is also the most complicated. It symbolizes everything that hurts: life, the body, the state of the world. …
The true way out lies not in perfect functioning, but in stumbling. The compulsion to perform and subordinate, personal traumas, fears and unfulfilled expectations lead the four women to one and the same tipping point. A change of course is imperative and unavoidable. Are the four of them heading towards pain and ruin or towards healing and self-determination? And can friendship and trust take a radical step towards a new beginning?
