More detailsHis father is an alcoholic and his mother is unable to support the family. This is how Friedrich Zawrel grows up. He spent his childhood years in Kaisermühlen, where he was evicted from his home and finally sent to Spiegelgrund, the German Reich’s “special children’s ward”, where euthanasia murders of sick and disabled children took place. Zawrel – classified as “hereditarily and socially inferior” – was tortured by the institution’s doctor, Dr. Gross, but managed to escape. It was not until 2000, after many efforts on Zawrel’s part, that a court case was brought, which was dropped due to Gross’ alleged dementia. He can no longer remember anything. …
