Information
More details*inside. Of course we’ve all lost something here.Or are losing something. Or will have lost something. The keys to your bike, your patience with your neighbors, your middle-class status. Loss is not an exceptional situation. It accompanies us quietly, persistently, every day. What was once there has disappeared – certainties, promises, places, images of the future. It is a feeling that characterizes our present and calls optimism about progress into question. Based on this feeling, author and director Rebekka David develops an evening of theater together with the ensemble about losing and how it continues to affect us.…
The former Grand Hotel Steirerhof on Jakominiplatz becomes the resonating space of the evening. A place of transition, once a symbol of splendor and new beginnings, demolished in 1989 and replaced by a shopping center. A place into which the theme of loss has been inscribed. Fragments of the hotel from different eras reappear on stage. In the lobby, characters come together who carry with them a wide variety of experiences of loss; at the bar, they talk about broken deals, lost dreams and thwarted plans for the future.
The evening is not a nostalgic retrospective, but creates a polyphonic space between melancholy, humor and ruptures in order to jointly perceive loss as a feeling and as a social experience – and to reflect on what forms dealing with it could take in our time.
