The Nutcracker is the last and most successful work by composer Peter Tchaikovsky.
The plot of the ballet is based on the fantastic story by the German Romantic author
E.T.A. Hoffmann “Nutcracker and Mouse King”.
The story of a young girl who receives a nutcracker as a gift and dreams that it will turn into a fairytale prince fascinates young and old around the world.
For a few hours, you are whisked away from everyday life into the romantic and imaginative world of dreams and longings.
When the guests have said goodbye on Christmas Eve, Klara goes back to her presents. There she falls asleep. At midnight, the nutcrackers and dolls come to life and Klara is suddenly in the middle of a magical world. Snowflakes and dancing flowers accompany the girl on her journey to the realm of the beautiful sugar fairy. A magical Christmas fairy tale that delights ballet fans of all ages at every performance.
The world premiere of the ballet “The Nutcracker” took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in December 1892.

The show is presented by the International Ballet Company Italy – Artistic Director Alessandro Bonavita.
