– FARCE –
FARCE is the alias of Vienna-based producer, songwriter, and performer Veronika J. König. Known for her theatrical, genre-blending avant-pop approach, the artist originally had her roots in punk and black metal, but turned to electronic production as early as her teenage years—and FARCE was born. She first gained attention with her debut EP and through performances in Vienna’s DIY scene, which quickly earned her airplay on FM4 and established her as one of the most distinctive voices in the Austrian underground. …
Her debut album *Heavy Listening* (2018) eventually made a splash internationally and earned her spots at some of Austria’s most progressive festivals—including Popfest and Hyperreality in Vienna and the Donaufestival Krems. With her subsequent releases, her experimental approach evolved into a more intense, emotional sound. The EP “Trauma Bounce” (2020) received worldwide radio airplay, while the single “Déjà Vu” (featuring Aether Kombo) reached No. 1 on the FM4 charts. With her second album “Not to Regress” (2022), she once again deepened her soundscape—vulnerable, biting, and uncompromising in its expressiveness.
As a producer and collaborator, FARCE also works across genres and disciplines: She has written and produced for artists including Sophia Blenda, kin dread, Pandora Nox, and Mavi Phoenix; handled mixing and vocal production for Alicia Edelweiss and Anthea; and composed music for film and television—most recently for Amazon MGM, Corpus Homini (Anatol Bogendorfer), and Radio Orange. She also curates and hosts the FM4-affiliated radio show “Pop Shop.”
As a staple of the European underground and alternative scene, FARCE has headlined tours across mainland Europe and the UK, opened for Ja, Panik, and Edwin Rosen, and performed at festivals such as The Great Escape, Primavera Sound, and Popfest Wien, where they were given the “closing slot” in 2024. They have received multiple awards and nominations (including for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and the XA Export Award), been featured in media outlets such as *Der Standard*, *
* *The Gap*, and *Wienerin*, and received international airplay on BBC Radio 1, FM4, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and many more.
Whether it’s catharsis fit for the club or the deconstruction of classic pop structures—FARCE has developed an uncompromising body of work: queer, maximalist, and emotionally razor-sharp.

– COUSINS ARE THE WORST –
Cousines Like Shit is the band project of Austrian cousins Hannah and Laura Breitfuß. What began as a shared passion between two women from Salzburg has evolved into a distinct, unmistakable musical universe. It was clear to both of them early on: starting a band with your cousin is the absolute best. Since their first songs together
in 2016, they have consistently pursued their creative process as a duo—intuitively, playfully, and with a keen sense for nuance.
The project received a major boost in New York. With remarkable
boldness, they reached out to numerous clubs—and soon after, they were already performing on a stage in Brooklyn. This energy shaped their future path and can still be felt in their music today.
Cousines Like Shit describe their own style as “Avant Trash”: an unconventional blend of lo-fi aesthetics, indie pop, punk, and experimental lightness. Striking guitars meet minimalist, atmospheric arrangements, complemented by the cousins’ characteristic two-part harmonies. Lyrically, they dissect human quirks, relationship dynamics, and societal absurdities with a sharp eye and self-deprecating humor. Lyrically, they move playfully between directness and exaggeration.
Following the EP “Young And Online,” their debut album “Avant Trash” lays the programmatic foundation for their artistic identity. Songs like “Barbie,” “Vivid Sassy,” and “Ziggy Ziggy” channel that raw energy that oscillates between nonchalance and precise observation.
With their second album, *Permanent Earthquake*, Cousines Like Shit continue to evolve their sound. The songs take a subtly more electronic direction without losing the essence of their signature style. Powerful guitar textures blend with pulsating basslines and punchy hooks; overlaid with their unmistakable harmonized vocals. Once again, they’ve teamed up with New York producer Madison Velding-Vandam—the resulting tracks carry a palpable urban urgency and expand the band’s sonic spectrum with new dimensions.
Cousines Like Shit embody an uncompromising approach to pop music: stripped-down yet multi-layered, ironic yet emotionally direct. “Avant rash” is less a genre label than an attitude—a self-assured invitation to subvert conventions and find one’s own voice in the supposedly unfinished.
