Two “little vampires” on a global mission, a rescue that is conceivable only through a being with inhuman qualities—a monster—and musical theater as a mirror of a world gone haywire: In Monster’s Paradise , Olga Neuwirth’s radical sonic imagination and Elfriede Jelinek’s incisive linguistic artistry collide with relish—dissolving the horror of the world with analytical sharpness and humor. Tobias Kratzer—once a Ring Award winner, now an internationally acclaimed director—transforms this brand-new political grotesque into a magnificent contemporary spectacle, both drastic and humorous.

A reunion of two exceptional artists at the cutting edge: More than two decades after their legendary collaborations *Bählamms Fest* and *Lost Highway* , Olga Neuwirth and Elfriede Jelinek continue their congenial partnership.
With *Monster’s Paradise* , they have created a biting allegory of the present , in the style of those famous, grotesque anti-plays about power and downfall—Ligeti’s *Le Grand Macabre* and Penderecki’s *Ubu Rex*.
Acting as avatars of themselves, they send two “vampire girls” on a wild journey and have them dissect the downfall of humanity.
A spectacle that blends political satire, media frenzy, and mythical doom, posing the question of whether the world’s salvation from an egomaniacal president-king can come—of all things—or even exclusively—from a monster. Tobias Kratzer, one of today’s most exciting and successful directors, transforms this material into a hybrid blend of tragedy and satyr play—sharp, garish, and eerily human.
