For over ten years, the “Dead Or Alive” series has been a hit at Next Liberty, and this season it once again brings together writers from all eras on one stage: Professional actors breathe new life into the classics of literary history, lending body and voice to the late masters of words and poets, while three very much alive poets boldly belt out their own poetry in response. The result is a verbal showdown in a class of its own! It’s always surprising which text themes the living choose, and every time it’s exciting to see which dead rise from their graves—and then you’re amazed when suddenly Falco is rapping right in front of you. Can today’s passionate slam poets prevail against the perennial guests of German class? The audience decides by applause which team wins in the end.
