RÜDE

How do you look back on thirty years of band history? From a distance, the view looks like the prospect of a vast jungle of deep life. For us sports fans, less inhabited by poisonous snakes and dangerous multi-legged creatures, but by friendly jungle creatures. Dedicated to life, searching for stories and discoveries. Behind almost every tour day are funny experiences, joyful hugs, the best celebrations and ever-growing stories that become more deeply rooted over the years. Records and tours become high plateaus of memory, celebrations sometimes decades later become mammoth growths of “Do you remember back then?” stories. Fraternizations, friendships, tender plants or simply large-pored potatoes. In every corner, every fork of a branch hangs the scent and beauty of solemn life. Sometimes painful searches and often happy resolutions.

One man’s hubris becomes normality with a band. Standing on stage and tens of thousands singing a song that tumbled out of our fingers in the grindy rehearsal room: no problem, it’s normal. One of them goes home on a scooter, we’re in the rolling house, no problem, it’s normal. The music becomes a backstage pass into the hearts of strangers, who somehow become friends as a result, it happens again and again. It stays beautiful and you can never get used to it. I can recommend being in a band to anyone. With or without music, it doesn’t matter; the main thing is that you’re in it together and not alone!

FLO

It all started with the “Wonder Years”. With the time in which the search for oneself in rebellion, rebellion, coolness, mod shuffle and in rumbling around broke ground. And with the idea of putting three not quite similar musical preferences under one band context. Before the first countdown in the spartan rehearsal room in 1996, Jack Kerouac, Big Muff distortion, some kind of school in Germering and definitely the idea of enormous volume were running through our heads. 27 minutes later, the “Wunderbare Jahre” were born and the knowledge that no matter what else might come musically, this is a brash manifesto of our adolescent existence. It will remain forever. It became the motto of our lives. And on top of that, there was still a lot to come.

From performances in dark basement rooms in front of three curious people to halls filled with ten thousand soulful people. From special peculiarities such as World Cup hits, MTV unpluggeds, horizon-broadening video shoots, records made of wood/gold/and platinum, reading tours in opera houses to the “completely normal” madness of a band including unforgettable tours in the arms of the best crew of the universe. From being the opening act for Foo Fighters, Green Day and Grönemeyer to supporting bands like Ash, Nada Surf, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs. It’s all there. From the always supportive and driving management to the social commitment that can always be integrated. Against the creative hole, against the envious, against the mood-makers, but always in the knowledge that what we do can logically not please everyone. Who can do that except Florian Wirtz?

With the tools and background of a radio play, two EPs, ten albums, millions of concerts (for example Eggenfelden, Neustrelitz, Hamburg, Tashkent, Madrid, London, New York etc.) and the privilege of being able to combine profession and vocation, we bow down to the tips of our toes to our listeners. Mucho gracias grande for dancing, singing and feeling along! We just want to say that you are the greatest thing for us. And that for 30 wonderful years! Let’s go!

PETER

It’s 1996… a guy with a Britpop haircut asks a guy with a grunge raincoat, hey, you make music too, don’t you? Let’s do something together! Fancy it? So indie, alternative in German, I’ve got a song… 1 year later, after the first bass player had gone missing… hey, there’s someone who studied jazz or politics or something, wears a cap backwards and has a mat underneath, should we try him out as the new bass player? This or something similar is how the story of the 3 Sportfreunde begins.

In the 29 years that followed, there was just about everything a band could experience:
– meteoric non-rise
– slightly tense failure
– pop-like chart entries
– magical encounters
– rock moments for eternity
– world-championing choirs of millions
– gigantic victories over crises
– venerated adoration

And songs as friends and friends as eternal companions of our songs.
Over and over again…

“It’s 2026….so now we Sportfreunde are celebrating our 30th anniversary. You have to let that sink in! As a person, 30 means goodbye youth, real life oh dear! As a band, 30 means: Hooray, we’re still alive! (And we want to celebrate with you the fact that this band has accompanied our lives for so long, indeed, has shaped and inspired us in the most significant and positive way!

That’s why everything that comes on top is celebrated to such an extent that our hearts vibrate and our plugs bounce!
We want to write new stuff, then go on the road with Best Of and hit the shit out of it!
Are you also racing through 30 wonderful years with us?

– Cordoba78 –

A day that could not be more irrelevant, but is omnipresent in Austria: the miracle of Cordoba in 1978. Austria against Germany. A victory that testifies to collective hubris and great luck. Nevertheless, Cordoba78 has nothing to do with soccer. But this feeling – “I’m going crazy!” shouts the commentator – everything stands still, one hundred percent dedication to this one moment, feeling everything, feeling it together, crying, screaming, exploding. Cordoba78 gives these feelings a space. In their stadiums without hate and prepotent hooligans, they invite you to join them in collective ecstasy – but with ambition.
Sometimes their music sounds like the end of a party, sometimes like the beginning of something really big – Cordoba78 is both. Songs about anger, love, being overwhelmed and the brief happiness in between. About Europe and parties, burning skies and red sofas, about people who stay and those you have to let go – they talk about Vorarlberg, Vienna and Europe, about love, decadence and the search for meaning without finding it.
But maybe that’s what it’s all about. Their sound? somewhere between indie to pop and cathartic megalomania – roaring blues guitar, soul piano, stadium melancholy.
Live: a stadium without hate, fan songs for us all – rousing, to shout along to, dance to and hopefully fall in love with. With pure love and dedication for this one moment and every detail. Sweaty shirts and guitar solos that you only really know from the last century. A sometimes almost sacred presence – with a lot of tongue-in-cheek, which you can feel between the songs. Honest music without glitter and dark sunglasses, but with all the more emotion. In short: a collective ecstasy with ambition!
Their current single “Der Himmel brennt in Europa” is not another protest song – it is a wake-up call in choral format. Cordoba78 transform political powerlessness into something that sounds like a stadium mass for the present: big, honest, desperate and beautifully overwhelmed. An epic, chorale-driven song about anger, powerlessness and responsibility – a wake-up call from the European coma. Between piano, crescendo and choirs, everything that is currently burning is condensed: climate, war, capitalism, indifference. “Never again was yesterday and no one fights with our sisters” – a line that remains. Political, emotional, unironically honest.
The first cry after a year’s break from releasing – but that was no year of rest, on the contrary. Cordoba78 toured across the German-speaking countries and shared their music with an ever-growing audience. This was followed by sold-out club shows throughout Austria and appearances at major, renowned festivals such as the Rosenheim Summer Festival. In the summer, the five isolated themselves with their new producer Tim Tautorat between Berghütte and the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. A lot of great things were created during this time – longing songs that are just waiting to be released into the world. To their great joy and honor, they were awarded the prestigious IBK Förderpreis for their extraordinary pop-cultural achievements over the past two years.
After a year’s break from releases, they are paving the way for their new wave of releases with “Der Himmel brennt in Europa” – because one thing is clear: Cordoba78 has big plans for 2026!
