The Schick Sisters are taking International Women’s Day as an opportunity to invite Austrian female musicians to Graz Opera House on Monday, March 9, 2026 to celebrate a great togetherness and give visibility to the diversity of the female cultural scene. Many wonderful Austrian acts, including Kernölamazonen, Sosamma, Virgina Ernst, Maria Bill and Anna-Sophie, will conjure up an unforgettable evening on stage that focuses on the music of Austrian women. This evening will also be special because the legendary OPUS Band will provide musical support for the ladies with their worldwide hit Live is Life. ORF Styria’s program director and cult voice Sigrid Hroch will host the event. …
According to Katharina Schick, singer/songwriter, there are so many wonderful female musicians, female-inspired projects and bands in Austria. But the stages are still dominated by their male colleagues. The public needs to become aware of this in order to bring about change. Only togetherness will get us further! For Virginia Ernst, songwriter, it’s time for the ladies to find their place in the charts, to enrich the line-ups of the big festivals and to be treated fairly and equally in the media.
