CAIRO STEPS folk.art Festival 2026

“Cairo Steps” represents a fascinating musical encounter between East and West. Founded by Egyptian oud virtuoso Basem Darwish, this international ensemble blends traditional Eastern music with jazz, classical music, and improvised soundscapes. Instruments such as the oud, nay, and Eastern percussion blend with modern harmonies to create an atmospheric, emotional sound full of depth and energy. The musicians see it as their mission to build musical bridges. They perform at international festivals and have produced an award-winning album in collaboration with the long-standing world music group Quadro Nuevo. With their diverse cultural backgrounds, Cairo Steps take the audience on an intense journey through these very cultures.
